Fitting A Rockdoor

Removal Of Existing Door

Removal Of Existing Door

Upon arrival at installation check the door is the correct size and specification against the order before going any further. Remove old door without damage to any brick or plaster.

Rockdoor Tip!
Unscrew the keys fixed to the outside of the outer frame adjacent to the lock before fitting the door.

Placing Door

Placing Door

Once the aperture is clear from debris, offer the door and frame into the clean opening. Using door packers secure the door in place ensuring there is an equal gap between the verticals, top and bottom. Ensure that the threshold is perfectly horizontal as this will ensure that the correct factory finished tolerances are adhered to.

Rockdoor Tip!
Air gaps should ideally be 4mm all round, this is most important on the lock side. Use a 4mm glass packer to test the air gap.

Fixing the Door

Fixing the Door

Fix the hinge side plumb with four fixings (ideally using direct frame anchors), one fixing must be above the top hinge through the poly block and it must be packed below the bottom hinge as low as possible to ensure maximum strength and security is achieved.

Rockdoor Tip!
The fixing above the top hinge is the most important as this is the load bearing hinge.

Check that the frame is plumb on both the face and the rebate of the frame. Check that the door closes to the lock side and the air gap to the head and jamb is 4mm. Adjust and re-pack the frame if required. Remove the keeps and drill 4 holes through door frame. Check that the door is still flush to the frame and the air gap is 4 mm. Adjust if necessary. Drill the brickwork and fix the lock side of the frame. Replace the keeps covering the fixings. Check the air gap is 4mm to the jamb and head. For fine tuning use the adjustable hinges.

Rockdoor Tip!
The hinges are 3 way adjustable, hinge adjustment details are included with every Rockdoor.

Make Good

Make Good

Apply PU Foam into the gap between the frame and brick work and allow to set. Once the Foam has cured clean off all excess and trim and seal using standard window and door trims.

Rockdoor Tip!
Foam & some cleaning products are harmful to coloured Rockdoor’s, cleaning instructions are included with every Rockdoor.

Final Checks

Final Checks

Upon completion check the door opens, closes and locks correctly. Finally, ensure all the hinges are fully tightened.

Rockdoor Tip!
Before leaving site, have a quick tidy up and check the customer is happy with the installation and leave lasting impressions.
