U-Values

As of the 1st October 2010 new building regulations came into force requiring all entrance doors to achieve a U Value of below 1.8 W/m2K and all entrance doors with Side Frames or Fanlights to achieve a U Value of below 1.6 W/m2K.  

Does a Rockdoor comply?

Yes, all Rockdoors comply with the new legislation achieving between 1.1 and 1.7 W/m2K, so well within the guidelines. Your installer will be emailed a certificate to help them complete the necessary paper work for Fensa or any other regulatory industry bodies. Rockdoor French Door also comply with Document L. 

Why are U Values needed?

U Values, in a similar way to Window Energy Ratings (or WER's), are designed to lower heat loss through your door, helping to lower your fuel bills and reduce your carbon footprint. Your installer will need the U Value to complete regulatory documentation for Fensa or Certass.

Side Frames & Fan Lights 

All Side Frame and Fan Light double glazed units, supplied by Rockdoor, are filled with Argon Gas as standard bringing them below a U-Value of 1 .6 W/m2K as required. Side Frame and Fan Light glass require a lower U Value than doors.
