Door Set Energy Ratings

Door Set Energy Ratings (DSER’s) provide a simple yet effective way of assessing the energy efficiency of residential doors including composite doors (similar to choosing a washing machine).

Rockdoor are the only composite door manufacturer in the industry to have an entire series of front and back doors which are available with an A++ rating as standard. When receiving your Rockdoor it will have an energy rating sticker attached for your reference.

We achieve A++ ratings using many innovative techniques, ensuring that heat loss through our composite doors is the lowest in the industry, by some way.

Ultimate Series

Featuring a 50mm thick door sash, s-glaze technology, argon filled double glazed unit, soft coat thermally efficient glass and a carbon fibre reinforced inner frame, the range Rockdoor Ultimate doors is available with an A++ rating (if chosen with clear backing glass) - making it the most advanced thermally efficient and secure composite door available.

Elite Series

Featuring a 44mm sash, argon filled double glazed unit and hard coat thermally efficient glass, Rockdoors Elite Series is available with an A - C rating (if chosen with clear backing glass), which exceeds what many other composite door manufacturers can achieve.

Select Series

Featuring a 44mm sash, double glazed unit and thermally efficient glass, Rockdoors Select Series is C - E-Rated as standard (if chosen with clear backing glass), which meets the industry standard keeping you warm and cosy in your home.

What could change your Door Set Energy Rating?

When choosing your Rockdoor composite door, we recommend choosing a clear backing glass (the piece of glass on the double glazed unit behind the glass design) to ensure optimum thermal performance, this is because we can only use our soft coat (Ultimate Series) and hard coat (Elite Series) thermally efficient glass on clear glass. When a patterned backing glass is used, this drops your energy rating slightly as this style of obscure glass cannot use this technology.

Door thresholds also make a difference to your doors energy rating. Low Aluminium thresholds, whilst practical for wheel chair and pram access, don’t offer the same performance levels of a slim PVC-U threshold.

Even if your Door Set Energy Rating drops down slightly, you can still feel confident your door will keep more heat in the house than other composite doors on the market keeping your home warm and cosy.
