S-GLAZE TECHNOLOGY
Following on from our recent topics exploring Rockdoor’s core components, now we’re taking a closer look at one of Rockdoor’s most significant innovations: S-Glaze Technology. This is a method of sealing the glass unit between two skins of the door during manufacturing.
Understanding how it works and why we use it will help you explain its benefits more clearly to customers.
WHY DO WE USE S‑GLAZE?
With most composite doors on the market, the glass unit is fitted into a cut-out and held in place with a cassette. These moulded cassettes can dramatically fade, warp, or be removed by burglars.
S-Glaze eliminates such problems by embedding the glazing unit into the door structure itself. This prevents any movement or loosening of the glass and ensures the unit remains sealed, secure, and stable for the life of the door.
But just as importantly, the sleek aesthetic S-Glaze provides over protruding moulded glazing cassettes, where the grain and paint don’t match, is dramatic.
BUILT-IN THERMAL PERFORMANCE
S-Glaze significantly contributes to the overall energy efficiency of a Rockdoor. By eliminating the gaps and seal weaknesses found in cassettes, S-Glaze eliminates the risk of draughts or water ingress.
Together with our high-density polyurethane (PU) foam core and robust inner frames, S-Glaze plays a key role in Rockdoor overall.
SEALED IN FOR SECURITY
S-Glaze not only improves thermal efficiency but also enhances door security. Because the glass cannot be removed without damaging the door, it stops a common point of entry for intruders. This is especially important for glazed door styles, which are often seen as a weak point in other standard doors.
EXCLUSIVE TO ROCKDOOR
It’s worth noting that S-Glaze is exclusive to Rockdoor. It’s not something you’ll find in other composite doors on the market, and it’s a feature worth highlighting when talking to customers, especially those comparing door options based on security, energy efficiency or style.
IMPROVED LOOKS
Whilst glazing cassettes serve a purpose for GRP doors, they come at a cost in terms of the overall appearance. Rockdoors S-Glaze technology provides a smooth finish between the door skin and the glass for perfect aesthetics. Whereas clip in glazing cassettes protrude from the door itself as they need male and female moulded fixing points.
