Components such as grub screws, switch latches, and viewing clips may seem minor at first glance, but each one plays a crucial role in the door’s strength, security, and day-to-day usability. From ensuring handles enhance longevity and durability to giving homeowners flexible locking options, these features demonstrate the thoughtful engineering behind every Rockdoor.
GRUB SCREWS FOR DOOR HANDLES
When fitting Rockdoor handles, grub screws play a vital role in securing the handle to the spindle. The spindle is inserted so that its exposed groove aligns with the grub screw. Once in position, the grub screw is tightened clockwise, which causes the spindle to ‘splay’ slightly and lock the handle firmly in place.
Grub screws are designed to create a strong mechanical grip without requiring large fixings, which helps preserve the clean look of the handle while maintaining strength. By locking into the spindle groove, they prevent the handle from loosening during daily use and provide the reassurance that the hardware will perform consistently over time
SWITCH LATCH
The switch latch is a small but important feature that determines how the door operates on a daily basis. When the switch latch is in the up position, a key is required to gain entry to the property, helping maintain security. In contrast, when the switch latch is in the down position, no key is required and the door can open and close freely, making it convenient for daytime use. For full security in either position, the key or thumbturn must be fully engaged to lock the hooks into place
VIEWING CLIPS
Viewing clips are a simple but essential fitting tool. It allows installers to check that the door sits square in the frame while it’s being secured. By holding it in place and shutting the door against the clip, you can instantly see whether the alignment is even from top to bottom.
This quick check ensures the Rockdoor closes flush and level, so when the homeowner tries it for the first time, they see a door that shuts smoothly, looks precise, and feels solid.
