Gaskets don’t always get the credit they deserve, especially when considering the important role they play in the homeowner’s perception of the door.
So, we wanted to take this opportunity to shine the light on Gaskets, and why they play their part.
Q-LON GASKETS
The name doesn’t give much away from the outset, but when you drill into the detail of where Schlegel (the brand owner of Q-Lon) came up with the name from, then it starts to paint a picture.
The name Q-Lon is an abbreviation for QUALITY & LONGEVITY. So, now knowing this, it is easy to see why they named it Q-Lon.
Q-Lon gaskets are made from a polyurethane foam core that allows for high durability and superior recovery, time after time, to provide a quality gasket that lasts a long time. The memory foam used outperforms other foam seals on the market by 50%. The outer material is made from a weather-resistant polyethylene liner that is tough, tear-resistant and waterproof.
It’s used in one continuous piece around the frame, rather than using up to four separate pieces. This means that when closed, the seal between the frame and the sash is the best available on the market as it doesn’t shrink, perish or distort. Not only does it provide a great seal, it helps with thermal efficiency and reduces outside noise.
BRUSH PILE
Let’s not forget Brush Piles too, as they also play their part in a Rockdoor's superior performance. They work by gently softening the opening and closing action of a Rockdoor to give that feeling of quality, whilst also helping with thermal performance and sound reduction. They also hide the inner workings of the locks to provide a neat, clean finish within the air gap.
