At Rockdoor, we pride ourselves on the standout features—unmatched strength, ultimate security, and best-in-class thermal efficiency. But just as important are the small details.
Sometimes, it’s those finer points in design that truly set premium doors apart from the rest. One of those small but distinctive features is the chamfered leading edge of our composite door sash.
So, what is it, and why does it matter?

Chamfered Leading Edge
Rockdoor composite doors are designed with our exclusive inner frame, which features a 1mm chamfer on the leading edge of the vertical lock side of the sash. Whilst this detail may seem minor, it plays a crucial role: it enables the sash to move smoothly through the 4mm air gap between the outer frame and the sash, gently brushing against the brush pile as it closes into the aperture.
To put that into perspective, that 1mm chamfer provides an extra 25% clearance within the air gap. That’s the kind of precise engineering that makes every close of a Rockdoor feel effortless: no dragging, no resistance, just a clean, smooth motion as the sash gently touches the brush pile on its way in.
The chamfered edge doesn’t just improve the feel of the door in use, it also protects the brush pile, helping it stay in top shape to maintain thermal performance over time.

Premium Composite Door Design Features
This detail translates into something very real: a feeling of premium quality. That satisfying, solid ‘click’ as the door closes isn’t by chance—it’s by design. And it’s exactly the kind of experience that sets Rockdoor apart from standard composite doors.
The chamfered leading edge is one of the many exclusive features, including aluminium reinforcing that reflects our approach: thoughtful, precise and focused on real-world benefits. It’s another reason why Rockdoor continues to lead the way in premium composite doors.
It might be small, but as you now know, it’s a big part of what makes Rockdoor, Rockdoor. With a wide range of door styles and stunning colour options, you are sure to find an ideal Rockdoor composite door to complement any architectural design.
